Mission
The mission of the First North Carolina Battalion is to enrich the public’s understanding about the life and times of the N.C. soldier, while maintaining the highest standards of historical authenticity in the dress, drill, and equipment of those soldiers from the State of North Carolina, 1861-1865. We strive continuously to educate the public and ourselves as to the military values, realities, attitudes and events of that time and place and to accurately and positively portray, recreate, and memorialize the lives of North Carolina soldiers and civilians during this period of history; especially with respect to their appearance, conduct, actions, skills, and accomplishments.
